Mark Snyder, of the Red Hook Winery, says they were the first urban winery.
“I wanted to be able to bring the process a little bit closer to the consumer, where they didn't have to travel so much,” says Snyder. “Someone could come during the day for lunch or on the weekend or to come and learn about wine and experience wines from around the region.” Christopher Nicholson, of the Red Hook Winery, says their fruit is all drawn from New York State farms. “We focus mostly on the North Fork of Long Island,” says Nicholson. “The wine making that we do here, directly supports farmers in New York State.” Grapes from local vineyards are brought in with the three winemakers putting their own special touch on that wine. Another unique offering at the winery is that you can taste wine straight from the barrel. Link to story: brooklyn.news12.com/fuhgeddaboudit-food-red-hook-winery-38072872
